Leaders-In-Training (Volunteers)
Leaders-In-Training (LITs) are volunteers who assist in all areas of ASLC summer programming. This is a volunteer opportunity designed to grow the individual’s abilities as a leader and a community member; and to develop the skill sets required to be a future ASLC Instructor.
LIT volunteers help to facilitate ASLC activities on Juniper such as art & crafts, paddling, Camp Juniper, dance and other activities. In addition to these activities, LITs assist both instructors and participants, where needed.
LITs are an important part of ASLC Programs and are expected to be present for their assigned times/shifts.
Qualifications & Expectations:
13 years of age or older, preferred
Lifesaving Society (LSS) Bronze Medallion certification is recommended
Current Association of Ston(e)y Lake Cottagers (ASLC) membership
Minimum 2-week commitment
Help make Juniper a fun place to be
Helping to develop/plan/deliver games and activities
Attend training and weekly instructor meetings while on staff
Help provide a safe and supportive atmosphere
Help instructors enforce safety measures, when necessary
Help lead, participate and support ASLC Instructors in all activities and programming, as needed
Abide by all ASLC policies
Perform other duties and roles assigned by ASLC Program Director or Swim/Activities Heads
Be punctual and be prepared for the activities to which you have been assigned
Help with the set-up and clean-up of activities
Bring your positive energy and attitude!

-Why do you want to volunteer with ASLC progams? What excites you about helping with younger kids or being around the pool/camp?
-What experience do you have with swimming, camps, crafts, dancing paddling, robotics or working with children? This could include lessons, being a camper, helping siblings, or team sports.
-What are two strengths you would bring as a volunteer? For example: being patient, responsible, friendly, or a good listener.
-How would you help make the participants feel safe, included, and welcome? Give one example of something you might do.
-Tell us about a time you helped someone or worked as part of a team. This could be at school, in sports, clubs, or at home.
-If you noticed a younger child who was upset, not following rules, or possibly unsafe, what would you do?
